On the Importance of Scientific Citation

The Revista Finanzas y Politica Economica of Universidad Catolica de Colombia thanks all its authors, reviewers, and readers for their valuable contribution to the development of knowledge in the areas of finance and economic policy. Scientific citations constitute one of the most relevant indicators for evaluating the impact and quality of academic journals. When you cite articles published in our journal, you directly contribute to strengthening its positioning in international indices such as Scopus and Scimago (SJR), which translates into greater visibility for authors and broader recognition of Colombian and Latin American scientific production globally.

Our journal's H-index, which reached the value of 10 in SJR 2025, reflects the cumulative impact of citations received. Each pertinent citation contributes to consolidating this indicator and improving the journal's position in international rankings, thus benefiting the entire academic community linked to the publication.

Our Commitment to Academic Ethics

The Revista Finanzas y Politica Economica adheres to the highest ethical standards of scientific publication, following the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the principles established by internationally recognized organizations. We will never require, condition, or suggest the citation of our articles as a requirement for publication, evaluation, or any other editorial process. Editorial decisions are based exclusively on the quality, originality, and relevance of submitted works, evaluated through peer review processes that guarantee impartiality and scientific rigor.

We reject any practice that could be considered coercive regarding citation, including so-called "forced citations" or "mandatory citations," which constitute a violation of the principles of academic integrity and scientific ethics recognized internationally.

If in your research you find that articles from our journal are pertinent and relevant to your work, we invite you to consider citing them following good academic practices:

1. Scientific pertinence: Cite only sources you have consulted and effectively used in your research.
2. Referential accuracy: Provide complete and precise references, including DOI, volume, issue, and pages when applicable.
3. Transparency: Ensure that each citation responds to criteria of pertinence and scientific relevance, not external pressures.

To facilitate correct citation, each article published in our OJS platform includes detailed bibliographic information in multiple formats (APA 7th edition, Chicago 17th edition, Vancouver, among others), as well as the corresponding DOI to guarantee the traceability and accessibility of references.
