Resumen

Después de la disolución de la Unión Soviética en 1991, los países de Asia Central buscaron desarrollar la integración regional. A pesar de las declaraciones de los estados para mejorar la cooperación económica y política, no se lograron resultados concretos. Este documento analiza el tema de la integración regional en Asia Central aplicando la teoría del intergubernamentalismo de Stanley Hoffmann. El estudio muestra que las divergentes opiniones de los presidentes de Kazajistán y Uzbekistán obstaculizaron significativamente el desarrollo de la integración regional. La teoría centrada en el estado del intergubernamentalismo es útil para explicar el caso de Asia Central; sin embargo, tiene sus límites, ya que no considera la geopolítica, lo cual es especialmente importante para una región tan compleja como Asia Central.
