Abstract

This article presents an exploratory diagnosis of financial education and digital inclusion in popular markets, as well
as formative testing of the COONFIA prototype. A total of 28 consolidated records were analyzed using non- probability sampling in Bogotá (n = 9), Pereira (n = 10), and Valledupar (n = 9), together with an individual, in-person, guided session with a key informant (n = 1). Of the valid responses, 77.8% indicated low or basic financial and technological knowledge, while 76.9% reported using digital payments; only 7.4% used accounting software. Receptiveness to training reached 85.2% when affirmative and conditional responses were combined. The informant rated five prototype criteria between 4.7 and 5.0 out of 5 and proposed specific adjustments. The findings support design iterations but do not allow for the estimation of impact, effectiveness, or population-level adoption.
